"So...Morty, is it? A pleasure. Relax now. I won't hurt you," Mercedes positively purrs, adding menacingly, "unless you give me reason to."

Slinking to the cabinets, she looks them over, eyes glowing greedily. Mercedes focuses to see how much, if any, magic emanates from the weapons. Yet she doesn't for a second sheathe her sword. Could use a gun of some type, I suppose. Those blades look interesting.

"So, Morty, these wouldn't be trapped or cursed in any way, would they? I would hate for our...understanding...to be abrogated." Mercedes points her weapon casually towards the weapons, then at Morty.
Prettyboy wrote:"How the hell are we going to lug all this back to the barge with the congregation of zombie love waiting outside the door?"
"Well, I suggest many hands make light work. I certainly could use some sort of ranged weapon, regardless. The real question is 'What to do with him?'." Mercedes says, tilting her head at Morty. "He knows too much.", she says, voice filled with venom.

Chuckwagon: Cale, William, Nero, Wakiza, Caradoc, Everis

Conditions:
Armor of Ithan: 40/40 MDC. 8/8 minutes.
Chromatic Protection: 7:45/8 minutes. Blinds (-10 to strike, parry and dodge, -4 on initiative and -1 melee attack) for 2D4 melee rounds any attacker that makes a move at Will. Saving throw: Standard (13).
PPE: 5 spent this round
Armor:
Helmet: 45/45
Main Body: 23/45

As soon as he is hit by the black beam from Jaw Bone, Will speaks the words "Zam Tinen!" to create his powerful magical Armor of Ithan around himself. Inside, he runs mentally over his battle school training. He already knew that there was powerful evil magic at play. But what kind of magic weapon can fire a black beam powerful enough to destroy my armor in one blow? (Lore: Magic [dice]3[/dice]/40% - FAIL to figure out what technowizardry this could be, Lore: Faeries and Creatures of Magic [dice]4[/dice]/40% - FAIL to figure out how Jaw Bone might be related to the fight they had earlier with the shadow god's progeny and Mythology [dice]5[/dice]/30% - FAIL backed with Demon Lore [dice]6[/dice]/80% - PASS to remember more about Nalusa Falaya.)

With the zombies either contained within the circle of flame or destroyed, Will concentrates on taking down the much 'bigger' threat in Jaw Bone. He draws his two magic pistols from his side. "Switching to my peashooters. Wait...Did I just become 'Wanderer'? I thought I was 'Cupcake'!" He begins firing and doesn't let up for anything except to renew his Armor of Ithan if it goes.

Murdoc slings his rifle and pokes at the damage to his armor, "Well, I'm glad I stripped the armor off those other guys before they turned into whatever and we had to kill them again. At least now I have some replacement armor."

He looks over the swords and grins. Then, seeing the names on some of the guns he says as he points to one, "I'm not sure what the thing does, but Horde-Buster here sounds promising."

Murdoc looks around the room and notes the close quarters then draws his phase sword. He jerks a thumb at Mercedes, "Me and her can sheath our swords and carry one of these. The rest of the stuff is pretty small and can be split between us. That only leaves the horse and the two rifles, though I'm interested in seeing what Horde-Buster does."

Murdoc nods as Mercedes makes some points and says, "I'd like to know what's down the stairs. Say Morty, are there any more of those things I shot lurking around here?"

GM POST: 5 Minutes Have Passed Since the Last Update

Above: Combat Ends, A Message from Sky!
Cale, Wakiza, Nero, William, Shadow, Isria, Caradoc
Image

Combat Summary
15 seconds
With the mass of undead contained in the ring of fire and Jaw still blind, the battle has become something of a turkey shoot. Jaw continues to fire off the dark blasts from his pistol. Will studies the weapon and recognizes it as a pistol version of Skull Bone's Death Bolt Rifle (OOC: Blinding this guy was a good idea, you do not want to get hit by one of these.) With Isria's help clearing out the Z with her energy beams, which literally melt the undead almost instantly, the Roughnecks lay into the fat man with abandon. When all is said and done two boots, a fine red mist, and a whole bunch of zombie goo is all that remains of Jaw and his gang.
2 minutes
Isria levitates herself down to the street level and cradles the body of her companion. "He knew I would resurrect him, that's why he destroyed himself in such a away." She begins removing his armor and weapons. "I must burn the remains of my companions." She will ignore all protests and take the time to undress and burn her friends. "If you are in a hurry, then feel free to lend a hand."
3 minutes
Wakiza the sharp-eyed cyber-knight notices an incoming flyer, low and slow.
Image
The Patrol Car flies directly overhead and hovers ominously.
3.5 minutes
"Who's up there? What the hell's going here? This is Sergeant Major George Everis of the 501st Heavy Infantry Company. Op-Code: Whiskey, Dingo, Foxtrot, Seven." Shadow's voice booms over the Chuckwagon's loudspeaker. Nothing happens. Then from another direction you hear a eerie whooping, reminiscent of traditional native american war cries, except perhaps inhuman and also broadcast over an armor's speaker system. Further along the road, inside the settlement of Hannibal proper a group of CS soldiers coming running through the smoke of the burning town.

A voice finally responds from the Patrol Car's loudspeaker, "Sergeant Major, your code is old, but it doesn't matter. Operation Scorched Earth is immenint. Go with the Emperor's Grace."

"Wait, Sorched Earthed? Not Hellfire?" Replies Everis. Cale, at least, will be able to surmise this means a non-nuclear solution, however from his Tolkeen experience he knows carpet fire bombing is not necessarily better for those on the ground.

"Scorched Earth." Confirms the officer.

4 minutes
Those who can see the approaching soldiers will notice that they all seem to be officers in Exoskeleton armor. All of them are howling that whooping war cry as they run unnaturally fast. Their armor is covered in blood. They all carry an unusual type of weapon in their hands. A ethereal shadowy hatchet. They run low to the ground, spread out, not in CS order and style but like guerrilla fighters or tribal warriors.

"Oh shit." Isria sputters and then gathers her composure and turns and shouts at the Roughnecks. "These things aren't undead. They can't be stopped easily. But they're only hunting Deadboys. Take off any CS gear if you want to live!"

The group of CS Officers, about five, begin climbing (leaping really) up the embankment of the overpass and then onto the patrol car, the occupants of which apparently have not noticed the oncoming soldiers. They begin hacking at the car, which finally clues in and starts rising in altitude and spinning. A single attacker on the outside goes limp. His body falls limp to the ground. Soon te patrol stops spinning. Inside the car the sound of a grenade going off can be heard. The car suddenly streaks to the ground landing with a boom several hundred meters back further into Hannibal.

Below: What Morty Knows
Maxwell, Murdoc, Mercedes, Reaper, Morty

For Example, What All Those Shiny Weapons and Items Do:

Morty is extremely eager to show his usefulness. "Oh my, I can carry stuff for you, I'm great at carrying stuff. And if you think this is some good stuff for the Zombie apocalyse. You really have to check out the Arsenal down below. Here let me show you what these do." Morty explains in detail what each item is and does as he takes you further into Bone Hole. "There are more of those horrid creatures down here, but they sleep unless I scream, 'Intruder!'. I won't do that. Old Morty is no friend of the Bones, a slave more like it. If you take me with you many secrets I can reveal." Assuming some encouragement is given Morty continues. "An engineer for the mighty Googletherm Corporation, heard of them have you? No... yes well, in what you call the Golden Age, it was a major power. I was in charge of one of several pilot projects, the Hannibal Conduit. Each individual project around the continent was designed to simultaneously harness geothermal energy as well as set up the infrastructure for a network of massive tunnels under the continent connecting major centres by ultra-fast rail, linking information systems and exponentially increasing computing capacity for the entire nation!" Morty is clearly still very passionate about what must have been his life's work. You know, 300 hundred years ago, when he had one. Morty turns maudlin, "Anyway, that Rifts thing happened and put it all on hold. I was down in the tech pits when it happened. Fell into liquid carbonite and was perfectly pereserved, dead, but preserved. About forty years ago the Bones, found me, dug me up, gave me this half-life as this thing here. They've been here building up a wierd faction within CS Missouri for decades. Officially they have nothing to do with magic of course, officially they are licensed by the state for the removal of Dangerous Biological Elements. Which means pretty much anything to these people. The conduit connects the Bone lair with the Mark Twain Research Facility in Hannibal. The State doesn't know about the conduit but the researchers do, they are out of LoneStar. Or were. To be honest I think everyone's dead. By the way if you do want to go to Hannibal, then I suggest you change your outfits. The Bones made a pact with some sort of Evil Spirit, or something." Morty waves his hands, "I don't know about that magic stuff, gives me the creeps, at any rate anything in CS armor gets dead real fast. you know also there's a tiny bit of a worm infestation down there. Plus you know the Bone's personal horde of Zombies slaves they've been creating for half a century." Morty sketches a cross-section map of the lair, the conduit and the faciltiy with mechanical percision and speed, he gives it to Maxwell. "So am I usefull enough to save from this hell?"

Model Type: PA-002G
Class: All-Terrain Power Armor
Crew: One
M.D.C. by Location:
Thruster Jump Pack (Back): 60
Arms: 45 each
Legs: 80 each.
*Head: 75
**Main Body: 135
Speed:
Running: Triple the usual speed of the wearer. For most people, that is in the range of Spd 35-50 or 24 mph (38.4 km) to 35 mph (56 km), and obviously faster for those with a Spd attribute of 20 or higher. The act of running does tire its operator, but only at 20% of the usual fatigue rate.
Leaping: The robot legs can leap up to 10 feet (3 m) high and 15 feet (4.6 m) across unassisted by the thrusters, and increase height and distance by 50% with a fast, running start. A jet thruster-assisted leap can propel the unit up to 60 feet ( 18.3 m) high and 120 feet (36.6 m) across without actually attaining flight.
Flying: Not possible. Hovering off the ground is possible, but only for 1D4+ 1 melee rounds before getting wobbly and shutting off. However, it can be used to slow the descent of falls and land on one' s feet.
Underwater Capabilities: Swimming: The thrusters provide good mobility and control underwater and a speed of 15 mph (24 km); 22 mph (35.2 km) on the surface of the water. The Roadrunner can also walk along the bottom of the sea or lake bed at 25% of its normal walking/running speed. Maximum Ocean Depth: 1 ,000' (305 m)
Statistical Data:
Height: 7 feet (2. 1 m)
Width: 3 feet (0.9 m)
Length: 2.8 feet (0.85 m)
Weight: 101 lbs (45.5 kg), including built-in thruster pack
Physical Strength: Robot P.S. of 26
Cargo: None. Only what the person can carry

Death bolts! Thank Lady Tark for my magical protection. That could have ended differently. Once the fire is dispersed, Will walks up to Jaw Bone's misted boots and says a prayer for him. "You didn't stand a chance, you tubby bastard. May the gods have more mercy on your soul than you did in life."

With the battle finally over, William walks up to Isria as she strips her companion of his possessions. "We unfortunately are in a hurry. I must say, your companion fought with a valor unheard of in these times. I would be honored to carry on his legacy as the Man In Black." Will kneels down and points to the recently deceased man's possessions. Letting the others gather the rest of the corpses, Will talks to Isria about the fallen soldier. "Before we set him alight, what was his name?" Upon learning the Man In Black's name is Barry (OOC: Thanks SNAFU!), William will say another prayer for him. "May the brothers three see to it that this man... no...this brave soldier, Barry, rest with the peace that he could not enjoy in life. To Barry, The Man In Black!" And with that, he (or Nero if she chooses) will set him (and the rest of the corpses, if they have been gathered) alight using the Firebolt spell.

Once the Man in Black and his companions have been immolated and assuming that Isria allows William to have the Man In Black's possessions, Will heads to the Chuckwagon to change into the new armor with both his new sword and his Draining Blade slung behind his back. "What's our next move, Wak?"

Will tenses up as the Coalition flyer approaches but calms down when he remembers about Everis, their Ace in the Hole. He listens as they yell over their respective loudspeakers, not understanding the difference between "Hellfire" and "Scorched Earth". None of this sounds very good... We should probably get to getting. If/when he sees the shadow hatchet carrying CS members, he will try to think about who or what they could be and how to potentially take them down. (Lore: Creatures of Magic: [dice]3[/dice]/45% - PASS. Lore: Magic: [dice]4[/dice]/45% - PASS)
Isria wrote:"Oh shit." Isria sputters and then gathers her composure and turns and shouts at the Roughnecks. "These things aren't undead. They can't be stopped easily. But they're only hunting Deadboys. Take off any CS gear if you want to live!"
"Everyone, get to the 'Wagon quick! Get out of your armor and into something else!" If the hatchet men come after his team, William will begin to defend them.

After assisting moving the bodies, Wak will stand near Isria and Will as Will starts the funeral pyre. Wak says lightly, "May the Spirits make a place for them in the other world."
William Summers wrote: "What's our next move, Wak?"
Wak replies, "Well, now that we have Lady Isria we need to head into Hannibal and meet up with the other half of our team." Just then Wak spots the incoming hover vehicle, "Shadow these look like your guys?" After the exchange between the car and Shadow, Wak says to the others, "We need to retreat right now! Reaper can keep the other team safe." Hopefully. "We need to take Lady Isria and move back while this area gets carpet-bombed. After they are finished, we can head into Hannibal and hopefully find our people. Shadow, do have any way to contact your people with the other team?"

SNAFU wrote:"Oh shit." Isria sputters and then gathers her composure and turns and shouts at the Roughnecks.

Soon the patrol stops spinning. Inside the car the sound of a grenade going off can be heard. The car suddenly streaks to the ground landing with a boom several hundred meters back further into Hannibal.

Wak nods as he heads to the Chuckwagon, "Yes, on the double! Shadow get us the hell out of range of Operation Scorched Earth and away from those freaks!" Once on the Chuckwagon he strips off the deadboy armor and thinks, But we are in a Coalition vehicle!

Holy Horseshit. A working brain from a Golden Age energy researcher. Somebody will pay big money to read Morty's mind. He's coming with us until I can get a hold of Frederico.

Nodding passively Maxwell gives Morty another shake down.

"Listen brain bucket. You aren't useful to us until we're out of here in one piece. You say this facility is from the Golden Age. Can it withstand a nuke hit? If so, we can hunker down here while the dead heads take care of the brain eaters. Keep in mind if you're lying you'll be irradiated with us."

After Morty's spills his guts, Mike keeps prodding.

"You say the tunnels can connect us to Hannibal and the research centre. What exactly are we looking at down there in terms of opposition? How do we kill them, or avoid them."

Pleasantries out of the way Max takes another swig of his bottomless - Bottomless! - flask and looks to the group.

"Okay if the freak is right we can get to Hannibal underground and avoid any CS zombie clearing bombing. I say we head down the tunnels and take our chance with the Bone Brothers inbred cousins down there. If Morty's playing us straight there's some valuable shit down this rat hole. If we can get the good stuff and hit Hannibal from below it's pocket aces for us."

Sipping again he makes a refreshed sigh.

"Who's up for a good old fashioned dungeon crawl?"

Reaper slowly walks towards the chamber, his gun at the ready. It takes every effort of his being not to open fire on the Invid Brain within.
Necro Brain wrote:Come, Clay, come. Free me from this hell and she will be yours. Kill me. Destroy this horrible cage. Kill me, Clay Torres! Set me free!
"What the..." his words trail off. His fingers tightening against the trigger as he hefts the rifle up in his hands. Then something triggers in his brain, Wait a minute... He quickly racks his brain over the known powers and abilities that the UEEF know about the Invid. Intelligence: [dice]3[/dice] / 71% Invid don't talk... Especially big ugly ass blobs like you. Otherwise... His mind drifts back to right before he found himself in the ruins of an Invid Hive. The battle at taking down the power core, how the Invid Brain didn't try to communicate with him. But it was the battle for humanity.

He quickly toggles his helmet microphone, "I need explosives. Lots of fucking explosives over here." As soon as one of the Roughnecks comes over, he quickly stops them from firing. "This thing is pure evil, and it's asking me to fucking kill it. I don't know about you. I just dealt with an Alien that blinked me from one reality to another, asking for the same mother fucking thing. And if this is what I think it is, I want it to suffer... I need a second opinion."

Murdoc makes his way over to the crate of grenades and just grins when he recognizes them, "Now there I can use." He scoops up four and clips them to his utility belt. Then continues to listen as Morty goes and and describes the rest of the gear.

Walking over and checking out the Roadrunner PA, Murdoc looks to the others and chuckles, "Man, I could tear some shit up with this if we were out in the open."

"Staying down here could be a good idea, but we could also get trapped very easily." He turns to Morty, "Worms? What do you mean worms?"

Murdoc looks around then asks, "Where'd the other guy go?" He looks to be in thought, "The guy that puked his helmet.... uh, Reaper wasn't it?"

Zelda is slightly more bewildered than usual when met with the dying words of the formerly flaming dead bitch. What in the sam hell... wonder what ol' deep fried was doin' in these parts. Cool threads though. Stricken with the exotic armor of the 'sister', Zelda will nudge her body a few times - standard CS procedure if it might be magic, never know when somethings going to open a portal to 7th dream realm of therazdune in your butt... a reasonable precaution given the weirdness of the past few hours.

Deciding the armor was reasonably safe, after the infallible 'nudge-test', she nevertheless takes her time to doff the armor from the downed phoenix. During this process, Zelda lets down her concentration; abruptly ending both the firewall, and her own pyroclastic aura. Feeling a bit awkward her corpse wasn't on fire like the one o'er yonder, she'll light the corpse before figuring out what the others are up too. Why the hell didn't I have that idea!

Content with letting will and Wak have their little estrogen fest, or whatever they were up too, Zelda will be occupied slipping into her newly acquired digs! Once donned, she gives a few quick-draws and air-boxing maneuvers; to test the flexibility of her new armor.

After she's reasonably satisfied with the fit, Zelda wanders over to the Chuckwagon; watching as the body of some unknown... guy, starts to burn down. Inside, she'll start a conversation up with a good ol' fashioned slap on Wills back. "So like, what's the dealio with the Zentai, Cupcake? Nah, I'm just kiddin' - check it, I got some fancy new digs myself!"

Returning almost immediately to her vice, lit cigar in hand, she nods at Wills concern regarding the imminent CS bombing runs. Chuckling she replies "Aww, come on now. A little fire ain't ever hurt nobody! 'Sides, we got a damn good fightin' chance to bust this rodeo - so good in fact, I think I'll take a long overdue nap."

Finding the nearest, reasonably comfortable spot to dit down - Nero will make herself comfortable. Unconcerned with the troubles at hand, she kicks back and tries to catch some Z's. "See, I'm plum the hell tuckered out - I ain't got any more go-go juice, so if shit hit's the fryer all I got's this pea-shooter and an attitude that could sour milk. But last I checked, a little fermented dairy doesn't melt mega-baddies. So... yup."

O.O.C: Zelda is in her own little realm now, on the brink of psychic -if not physical- exhaustion. If combat erupts inside the vehicle, or they have to evacuate, she'll wake up. But for the meantime, she's snoring like a drunken hobo.

"Er, What? Uh.." The deep booming brain voice seems at a loss. Clay feels a gentle prodding in his brain parts. Suddenly a new voice emerges, "...I always think of you..." An the angelic form of Lynn Minmei into Clay's head. "If you want this than free me! The Song of Minmei, the implement of your love!" The brain starts to vibrate, Reaper can see now that the brain is gelatinous and slightly transparent. The brain itself starts sliding apart in gooey ropes of Invid grey matter. The hilt of a sword reveals itself, a sword that speaks and sings in Minmei's voice! "Free me from this prison and I will be a powerful ally in the quest for your true love."

Back on the Wagon.

5 Minutes Have Passed

Once the fire is dispersed, Will walks up to Jaw Bone's misted boots and says a prayer for him. "You didn't stand a chance, you tubby bastard. May the gods have more mercy on your soul than you did in life." The boots hiss and smoke, all that remains of the fat one.

"Uh," Isria tilts her head and gives will and odd look, then another one meauring him up, "Yeah I guess it'll fit. He's not using it."

Letting the others gather the rest of the corpses, Will talks to Isria about the fallen soldier. "Before we set him alight, what was his name?"

"Barry," replies Isria. "Barry Barinmore."

Upon learning the Man In Black's name is Barry, William will say another prayer for him. "May the brothers three see to it that this man... no...this brave soldier, Barry Barrinmore, rest with the peace that he could not enjoy in life. To Barry, The Man In Black!" And with that, he will set him (and the rest of the corpses, if they have been gathered) alight using the Firebolt spell.

Once the Man in Black and his companions have been immolated and assuming that Isria allows William to have the Man In Black's possessions, Will heads to the Chuckwagon to change into the new armor with both his new sword and his Draining Blade slung behind his back. "What's our next move, Wak?"

"No, we don't. No radio whatsoever. The whole area is out, damndest thing." replies Everis.

Once on the Chuckwagon he strips off the deadboy armor and thinks, But we are in a Coalition vehicle!
Will recognizes the ongoings as the work of some form of astral being with possession powers or is it a possessing spirit with astral powers? Their weapon is similar to a shadow version of a psi-sword. Wakiza also recognizes the psi-weapon nature of the enemy spirits' tomahawks. After consideration Wak realizes the spread of the zombie threat suggests that the burn area will be too large for them to drive beyond the fire zone. They have to get underground!

Seeing the silent things open up the patrol car like a can of beans. The Mega-steel chef slides down the gun well back into the Chuck Wagon. He starts striping out his armor while running into the cockpit. Turning to Shadow. "Get out of you'er armor. I'll drive."

Shadow agrees silently and removes his armor.

When everyone is inside. "Alright everyone. Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride!!"

Everis shrugs, pulls out a cigar. "Uh, now hold on there son, I'm not sure we got much choice here. They've drawn a circle around Hannibal and are going to burn inwards. Basically a controlled plasma burn sweeping from some where between here and New Chillicothe straight up to the river's edge. We can head to the river. What else is there?"

Isria snorts, "I suppose you claim not to know the pit of horrors that is the Mark Twain Research Facility! Bah, typical! You're either ignorant or a psychopath." Isria spits, "These monsters have an underground torture chamber near the port facility. It's where we were held, and where the phantom warriors came. From what we could tell it's connecting cave system descends far below even the deepest rooms of the facility. It was from those depths that an ancient evil was released. Those spirits out there are a powerful form of possessing spirit. They are the immortal servants of some Dark God, a very, old, local evil. Astral spirits with no physical form except those they possess. Only psionics or some magic can protect you. Luckily they will literally ignore you unless you wear that ridiculous death's head symbol. So juvenile."

"Lady," Everis shakes his head, "I thought we agreed we were better off apart. Well, wait aren't they goinig to attack us in this mother?" Everis pats the console of the APC.

"I have an idea." Isria enters the gunwell. She pulls a wand from hir robe and mutters a phrase. "I have used an illusion to disguise the vehicle. Let us pray that it works."

Cales moves the Chuckwagon past the over pass and into Hannibal. The smoke is so thick it works in their favor combining with the magic of Isria's illusion to allow them a relatively clear passage through the settlement. The fortified portion of the outpost has long been demnolished, and they are able to drive right into the garage at the Mark Twain Facility. The garage is itself a three level structure allowing Cale to lower it underground to a safe location. When they exit the APC they can hear the sounds of slaughter and destruction. And then they close the garage door behind them.

"Pardon me? The CS is intending to carpet bomb the area? So THIS is how I perish. Ah well, we all must go some time, I suppose. Stiff upper lip and all that."
This fuckin' sucks! I'm gonna die with these goofballs? I mean, what the hell? Like I give two shits about these Bone folks. I coulda been just fine back in MercTown but noooo...Venethrax is just like a big...well...whatever.

"Oh do not worry!," nods Morty, "We're very safe if we go all the way to the conduit! It's 3000 meters below the surface! You didn't think my sketch was to scale, did you? Oh my no, silly future Barbarians." Morty shakes his head.

Morty opens a panel on his chest where a 3-d image projector extends and begins to display a 3D version of this:
Image

After Morty's spills his guts, Mike keeps prodding.

"You say the tunnels can connect us to Hannibal and the research centre. What exactly are we looking at down there in terms of opposition? How do we kill them, or avoid them."

"Those cretins have been experimenting on creatures and humans alike they store the products of these experiments down there. Most are just mindless walkers, others are hunters. Where ever there are deep pools of water giant eyeless worms lay in wait, they sleep most of the time though if we can avoid disturbing them we should be fine. The tunnel is 8km to the Hannibal connection but we can take the automated rail system. It can get us there in miniutes." Morty replies.

Walking over and checking out the Roadrunner PA, Murdoc looks to the others and chuckles, "Man, I could tear some shit up with this if we were out in the open."

"The Conduit is very large, my muscular friend, even compared to you." responds Morty.

"Staying down here could be a good idea, but we could also get trapped very easily." He turns to Morty, "Worms? What do you mean worms?"

"Very, large worms. No eyes, swallow you whole if you let them." Morty shakes his head.

Murdoc looks around then asks, "Where'd the other guy go?" He looks to be in thought, "The guy that puked his helmet.... uh, Reaper wasn't it?"[/quote]

"I believe your friend is in the Generator Room. Unfortunately it is locked from within... and in another dimension."

"Oh Morty, you poor soul. You make me feel positively terrible for lopping off your arm. I'm sure we'll do what we can. You must realize, however, that less scrupulous individuals would LOVE to interrogate you for information from 300 years ago."

"Well, it happens." Morty waves away Mercedies apologies. "Hmm, a fate of imprisonment and interrogation is one I'd most like to avoid. Perhaps if I trade my most precious valuable to you, you would protect me from such an existence? They call it a Battery, but I think its pretty." Again on the screen, Morty flashes an image to Mercedes only.

Looking at the image Maxwell frowns. That's a big ass facility. I gotta get Freddy out here.

"Three thousand meters, that's half way to hell. If it's environmentally sealed they could drop a nuke on the place and we wouldn't feel it. I guess we're going down under. Hopefully, it won't be like the time in SOuth America I got caught in a cave with a giant guava bat. Frecking thing thought I was tasty treat until it figured out my metal bits are pretty damned crunchy."

After hearing Morty's description of all the various bad things in the cave Maxwell amends his assessment.

"Maybe it could be worse."

"Another dimension. What the hell are you talking about. Pull him out of there. I just met Reaper and he's kind of an asshole but we need his help."

Once Reaper has been retrieved Maxwell attempts to heard the cats further into the bowels of the facility. Not relishing the journey he makes sure his thermal imaging and night vision are working properly before swapping out his damaged CS Dead Boy armor for the Naruni battle armor. Clipping on the servo harness and loading a belt into the giant Vulcan mini-gun Max grins.

Luckily they will literally ignore you unless you wear that ridiculous death's head symbol. So juvenile."
What the Sweet Spirits have we gotten ourselves into this time? Now it is a Dark God too. Like it wasn't bad enough we had to deal with the Deadboys and Zombies! Wak finishes removing his armor and speaks up, "Do you know anything else about the facility, and Shadow what do you know about this facility? The smoke is so thick it works in their favor combining with the magic of Isria's illusion to allow them a relatively clear passage through the settlement. The fortified portion of the outpost has long been demnolished, and they are able to drive right into the garage at the Mark Twain Facility. The garage is itself a three level structure allowing Cale to lower it underground to a safe location. When they exit the APC they can hear the sounds of slaughter and destruction. And then they close the garage door behind them.
Wak flashes back to an ugly part of the war where the Tolkeen mages released demons upon an innocent town that unknowingly assisted an injured Deadboy patrol. The sounds of the demons slaughtering that town along with the soldiers is eerily similar to the sounds outside this facility. Wak shivers and then tries to shake off the sounds of slaughter, Too much like the war . . . ignore it Wak you know you can't save everyone and this is a Deadboy town anyway. Focus on surviving and finding the rest of your team. Remember your greater purpose, ending the slavery of our people to the supernatural monsters that invade this world.

He quietly says an ancient prayer that he heard his father recite to the Great Spirit for Strength many times over, "Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, Whose breath gives life to all the world. Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people. Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me. Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock. Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others. Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me. I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy Myself. Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes. So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame."

Wak smiles at Isria, "Nice illusion Lady Isria, thanks for the assist." Wak looks around at the group, "As much as I don't like walking around in nothing but my Stalker suit, which is better than what Cale and Shadow are wearing, we should check out this facility and head to the lower levels. This is just a parking structure and a plasma storm is on its way! I know you are beat Nero, but you and Will need to take the lead as you two are the only armored troopers on this mission. Wak thinks out, Lord Illyncryth if you are keeping an eye on me you know we have Lady Isria, I wouldn't try having a chat with her until we are out of here and have her back in Merctown. Supposedly there is a Dark God below here who has released some creatures against the Coalition. That must be what is behind the Bone family. Don't know what caused the plague yet, but I'm guessing we will find something in this facility. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was something the Deadboys did to themselves!

Wak nods to Will, "Thanks Will, this makes me feel a little better even if it is stinking mage armor." Wak laughs aloud. He quickly throws on the suit provided by Will. Okay, now I feel a little better about heading into this facility. I'll have to try watch over Shadow and Cale, even though it looks like Cale will be just fine. I normally don't eat a whole pie by my self, especially when it just came out of the oven. I share and make sure I have Ice Cream. I got that from the loot some unknown Demon Lady we fought just before you joined up."

Shaking his head in amusement. "That is one of the reasons the CS tries to keep an eye on us cooks. We have a tendency of trying anything to see what it taste like.
"Minmei!" Clay yells out, and quick draws up his Naruni Pistol. "Let her out of there you god damn bug!" He then proceeds to fire off round after round into the Giant Gelatinous being. Once the sword is free enough for him to grab, he goes over to it and then starts taking slices at the brain with the sword.

"You'll never keep her!" He starts to move into the brain slicing and firing away till his Pistol runs dry. "She's mine!"

After Reaper finishes, he cradles the sword as if it was a lost lover. "What have they done to you baby." Tears start to well in his eyes, "I'll make you better... I have friends, they will know what to do. They understand this melding of magic and technology. We will free you, I swear!"

Murdoc gives a nod to Maxwell and furrows his brows at the passive aggressive comment Mercedes made before he slings his particle beam rifle and slides the TW Magic Knuckles onto his left hand, "Too bad I don't know anything about piloting a PA." He gives both the swords a look over then scoops up The Obsidian Sword and the Terrorward. Securing the Terrorward he gives The Obsidian Sword a test swing, smiles and nods.

Looking over the rest of the stuff he pauses in front of the NE-1XXX "Modified/Remodified" Plasma Rifle and studies it for a moment then looks at the sword in his hand. Turning back to the others Murdoc says, "We can't carry all this stuff. I mean, I'd like to use that PA but this ain't the time to learn it on the fly. So, um, what are we gonna do with all this good stuff that we can't carry? You guys have some magical method to get all the goodies out of here with us?"

Murdoc fingers the gouges in his armor and looks to Maxwell, "This heavy stuff ain't really my speed, but I could use a fresh suit. Do you think give me a hand changing out?"
Murdoc sets down his new sword and the magic knuckles then unslings his rifle and takes off his utility belt, careful not to drop the new grenades. While he's switching armor, Murdoc looks to Morty and says, "And just how many of these things will we have to fight our way through?"

Once he's done changing out his armor, Murdoc clips on his utility belt and slings his rifle. The Terrorward is a little uncomfortable under the armor, but Murdoc deals with it and slips on the magic knuckles before taking The Obsidian Sword in hand.

"Illusions? Not really my forte, but nice work." During the drive to the Mark Twain Facility, Will questions Isria about their mission and the new armor of his. "What were you doing out here? Who comprised your squad? I saw the fiery woman, we've got one of our own as of late, and Barry but you said there were more? I can feel the magic emanating in waves from this armor, what can it do? And what can you do, fellow follower of the magicks? Where do you hail from? I'm from Dweomer myself. Lovely place, really. I think of everything I've seen only Lazlo compares."
"In this world I hailed from Tolkeen, now nowhere. My people are called the Amana, and I am healer turned soldier. Our Leaders sent us here to investigate the dark shroud our psychics have sensed growing in this region. Whatever is happening here is not good for anyone. Here, inside the breast plate are some rudimentary instructions." Isria replies to Will's inquiries. She gets uncomfortably close to Will to point out the slightly hidden instructions for the voice command activation system of his new armor, and a simple set of diagrams describing the functions. (First couple of uses should be a little shaky in the RP sense.)

They exit the vehicle in the under ground garage of the facility. Looking behind them, the group sees that Isria has used her abilities with Illusions to make the Chuckwagon look like a giant pig. Image

Inside the facility the group finds the place torn apart and the evidence of violence is everywhere. As their eyes adjust to the flickering lights the team sees the ghostly or more likely holographic image of an old-timey gent with a big mustache.
Image

The man says, "Oh, Why hello there. Welcome to the Mark Twain Cave Complex. Jzzzgkt" The image flickers and glitches. It seizes to recognize or interact with you however it continues to follow you around the facility. Occasionally piping in with random tidbits, "Man has been here 32,000 years. That it took a hundred million years to prepare the world for him is proof that that is what it was done for. I suppose it is, I dunno. If The Eiffel Tower were now to represent the world's age, the skin of paint on the pinnacle knob at its summit would represent man's share of that age; and anybody would perceive that the skin was what the tower was built for. I reckon they would, I dunno."

They venture further into the facility always accompanied by the ghostly image. "But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most? When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained."

Colonel Vancer's Gone and Done What?

Further down they find themselves in a morbidly festooned open hall. "Terror is an efficiacious agent only when it doesn't last. In the long run there is more terror in threats than in execution, for when you get used to terror your emotions get dulled.", observes the hologram.

Echoing in the hall are the moans of some one apparently enjoying some depraved pleasure. The ghost says,"Caesar in his Commentaries, says, "to the lonely it is company; to the forsaken it is a friend; to the aged and impotent it is a benefactor; they that be penniless are yet rich, in that they still have this majestic diversion. There are times when I prefer it to sodomy."" The Old Man clears his throat and tamps his pipe, "Now, the monkey is the only animal, except man, that practices this science; hence he is our brother; there is a bond of sympathy and relationship between us. Give this ingenious animal an audience of the proper kind, and he will straightway put aside his other affairs and take a whet; and you will see by the contortions and his ecstatic expression that he takes an intelligent and human interest in his performance.

As they move forward they are greeted by the following sight:
Image
Glad to see that the man isn't doing something embarrassingly sexual, the group will soon realize that something horrifying and perverted is however indeed still happening here. The man is clearly deriving his pleasure from the taste of blood.

"Holy Hand Grenades! That's Vancer! What the Fark is going on here? What the hell are you doing man!" blurts Sergeant Major Everis. The man Vancer ignores you as you approach and before your very eyes he transforms from a typical well-fed Coalition senior science officer into something unnatural and dark. The device on the Vancer's chest is clearly the source of the transformation and within seconds it is over. Those with experience will recognize that some kind of vampire stands before them.

After a beat the ghost image says, "Hannibal has had a hard time of it ever since I can recollect, and I was "raised" there. First, it had me for a citizen, but I was too young then to really hurt the place. Now, when these folks came in I told the devils 'The trouble with you Chicago people is, that you think you are the best people down here in this hell; whereas you are merely the most numerous.' Such is the human race. Often it does seem such a pity that Noah and his party did not miss the boat."

Image
Vancer the newly formed vampire turns towards you and grins. "Shut up ghost. Mark Twain was a hack. Who's this now, come to join me for dinner?"

When they get to Morty's space he unpacks a crate of bottles. Anyone with a sharp eye for booze will notice the extreme vintage of the
whisky. On the back label is a strange pattern of digital codes.

Also he pulls out a large trunk which he himself carries. As they walk Morty explains the box and it's function.

The Descent

Eventually the odd procession comes to the final descent in an ancient but excellently maintained elevator. It is big enough for the group and the gear. Mort activates the systems and they descend. As they come to the bottom they enter the cave as depicted by Morty except that there is no rickety bridge across the worm pit. It is possible to cross only by a very difficult climbing and balancing act along the sides.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. It seems we've been sabotaged! Well, the boys and I can cross through it, the worms have no taste for dead flesh. But you'll need to stay out they'll chew through armor in seconds.." When they study the dark muck in the pool they see it is writhing with worms. There are thousands of them the largest no more than a foot long.

Please include 5 JIC rolls of both d100 and d20 in your post.
Also include Climbing, Balance skill rolls if available.

Nero wrote: Nero takes a long, accentuated draw on her cigar... Sometimes there ain't no damn rest for the wicked. Looking at the ceiling she lethargically rises from her reclined position. "Right... well, sometimes I reckon you just have to burn everything to get some damned shut-eye. Fuckin' zombie's, dead god's and shit! I don't get paid enough for this damn freak-show!"

Obviously mumbling somewhat to herself, she get's her gear rounded up and looks half-ready to light kittens on fire. "Right. Cupcake, Cyber-Sioux, y'all sissies wana' get this here inquisition over with? Top-side'll be crispier than finger-toothed carpet bagger, deep fried with a side of chitlins after giving a brawler the business. So that leaves whatever rancid shit hole festered down here, fun right?"
Wak just nods through Nero's ramblings, "She's right about that last part let's keep moving. Everyone keep an eye out for anything interesting while we go through this place." Wak considers what he has seen and speaks up, "I am pretty sure we are dealing with the son of a Choctaw god, Nalusa Falaya, the Soul Eater. Those shadow warriors are his creation, poor cursed braves whose souls are bound to this Nalusa. If I remember correctly those things are astral beings and those tomahawks can do wicked long term things to a person." Great a mad god of the Choctaw's, this day just gets better and better.

Cale wrote: Shrugging his sholders, the Mega-steel chef chuckles in reply. "Simple? This is just a microcosim of life. I was just planning to lessen the dangers to us. Based on what we knew."
Wak just smiles, "I know and I agreed, it just a bad time to be without our more potent belongings and its likely to get worse before it gets better."
Cale wrote: "As far as figure, it was something I ate. The only thing close to not normal I ate lately was that pie I made from a giant apple.

That and we test things we don't trust on people who annoy us. I don't know how long it will last or if I will be like this forever. I'm playing it like the condition is temporary."
This time Wakiza laughs out loud, "So you ate a demon's apple! You have balls my friend I will give you that. Being like that forever may not be such a bad thing, Laser blasts not disintegrating your anatomy can be useful in our line of work. Oh and by the way nice bacon-mobile back there, maybe you should make that change permanent?"

As they move through the facility Wak keeps a close eye for an ambush or anything interesting.

As the image appears and speaks to the group Wak wonders, Nice a holographic image I wonder if it is interactive? Wak speaks to the image, "Do you understand us?" If it replies in the affirmative Wak will continue, "What is this place? What was the Coalition doing here? What happened to cause all this gore? Oh and we need to get lower in these caverns as the surface is about to receive a blasting that is just short of being nuked." As the image continues to ramble Wak begins to think this whole facility has gone mad! Great and this is where we had to hide our heads.

Walking dead? Train cars? Tunnels? I haven't seen anything this trippy since I ate those mushrooms in the Magic Zone. I still can't explain half of that shit.

Going along for the ride Mike takes in everything he sees like a kid in a candy store. He knows a few guys in the arms industry who would pay big bucks to see this place. If he can find a note pad or something to grab an image with he will record everything he sees about the Googletherm project. That is until the whiskey crate presents itself.

Taking a bottle from the crate he eyes it lovingly and lets out a long low whistle.

"This stuff goes back to the Golden Age. It is probably as smooth as a Quick Flex's ass."

Removing the cap from one of the bottles Maxwell takes a good sniff and puts it to his lips for a tiny sip.

"Oh, that's nice. Let's keep this, it'll be worth a fortune." Taking another sip Maxwell turns the bottle over and examines the label. "Looks like some kind of computer code. Anybody here able to crack codes? What about you Morty, any idea what this shit is?"

Putting the bottle carefully in his pack the merc gets back to business.

At the edge of the worm pit Maxwell considers taking another drink. Too bad his Icarus was parked above ground he could easily glide over the pit. Quickly, he let's his cybernetics go to work measuring the distance across to see if he can just jump over (OOC: Using laser distancer in multi-optic eye to measure the size of the pit, can leap 30' across). Regardless Maxwell is confident he and Murdoc can get over with no problem, hell the juicer could probably do it blind folded.

"Hey magic lady, you got any tricks that can just float us across? Otherwise, maybe me and Murdoc can go first and secure a line on the other side. Anyone got any rope?"

Potential Skills:
Climbing/Rappelling 70/60%
Sense of balance 65%
Walk tightrope or high wire 63%
Climb Rope 82%

Rolls: [dice=string]3[/dice] (Given these rolls i think it's important to note I can leap 15' high as well. hopefully jump to a safe ledge or something)

OOC: If there are no objections can the Naruni armor, servo harness, and Vulcan gun get added to my sheet? I have a feeling we may need them.

Cuerpo: 240/240 minutes: does not fatigue, is resistant to heat and cold and can breathe w/o air, Climb spell, Swim as a Fish: Superior, Leap 145'.
Bravura: 20/20 melee rounds, 50/50 MDC Energy Field, SNPS of 30, PE of 24 , Speed is increased by 50% (Will: Speed: 52. 23' per action), Impervious to all Energy Attacks, Cold, Fire, Drugs, Poison, Disease, Mind Control, Possession, Illusion, Pain, Horror Factor, Additional Saving Throw bonuses: +7 vs the vampire's bite, +11 vs magic, +11 vs psionics, see sheet for more.

Candy assed no nuts... Coalition slang is strange indeed. I'll have to remember that one for later.
"In this world I hailed from Tolkeen, now nowhere. My people are called the Amana, and I am healer turned soldier. Our Leaders sent us here to investigate the dark shroud our psychics have sensed growing in this region. Whatever is happening here is not good for anyone. Here, inside the breast plate are some rudimentary instructions."
"An absolute shame and a waste what happened to your people, Isria. I hope that King Creed is still alive and well wherever he may be. Well, like my compatriot, Wak over there said, we're probably dealing with the dark gods here. Nalusa Falaya could easily be the dark shroud your psychics were sensing. And if the spreads of Z is associated with it, then no, it's definitely not good."

Will reads through the instructions for the armor, impressed by what it can do. "Powerful magicks indeed." Walking through the facility mad seeing the gore everywhere puts Will on edge. "Be on your guard everyone. This place might not be much safer than the outside world..."

At the sight of the ghost, Will draws his Draining Blade and prepares to fight. When it turns out to be merely a morbid tour ghost or hologram, Will angrily puts his weapon away. "We don't have time for ghosts who ramble on about terror and Satan! We need to get to the rest of our group! For all we know, they could be misted by now..."

Will blocks out the sound of the ghost's chatter by recounting his spell library in his head. Upon finding Vancer, Will watches the transformation in horror and disgust as the man becomes a vampire in front of his eyes.

"Vancer? I heard you were a candy-assed no nuts. Come get some." Will tries to use the armor enchantment that allows him to combat the undead, but instead uses the power word Cuerpo, activating an entirely different enchantment. He makes a leap toward the vampire, overshooting by quite a bit due to the leaping aspect of the enchantment he used and hitting his head on the ceiling before climbing down the sheer surface of the wall to get back down to combat level. "Let's try that again... Bravura! Will activates the right enchantment and using his Draining Blade as well as the silver forearm claws built into the armor, begins to tear into Vancer.

Action 1: Activate Cuerpo (-8 PPE).

Sword of Minmei wrote:Minmei's voice cries out from the sword. "Oh, Clay. This sword has the power to link its owner to their one true love. It links you to me through time and space. It wants to be used to bring us together. Save me, use the might of this sword, that links you to me, to vanquish your enemies to make me yours! Now turn around and point the blade at the wall behind you." If Reaper does this he finds the wall melts away revealing the hallway he was in before the brain room. When he steps out he can hear the voices of his bickering comrades and will be able to catch up.
"Minmei?" he questions the sword. "Is that really you? I can't believe it." His face turns into a big shit eating grin of proportions only a deranged fanboy could ever have. "I knew you wanted to be with me, I just new it! Those lawyers and the restraining order..." He starts to shake his head up and down, "I've been counting the days till we were allowed to see each other again. I have my beloved doll still..."

He drops his head in shame, "But alas, I have lost the locket you gave me so many years ago. Do you remember that day? I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at your March 18th Concert in 2034. I had won a radio contest that gave me an all access pass to your concert. I was able to meet you before you went on. Oh you were so beautiful, warm, and sweet. You gave me the locket of all your concerts. I have listened to the pendant over and over. But on my last mission with the Roughnecks, we were trapped on a planet." Tears started to well in his eyes, "We met an alien who I tried to show that you are the most powerful force in the known universe. When I showed him my locket, he stole it right from me. I almost tried to kill it, but the people I was with, they needed to get back home. And it was the only thing that could do so."

"I'm so sorry, my beloved. I'll never get back what you gave me all those years ago."

It isn't till the sword mentions to Clay a second time that he can get out of the room, that he follows along. "Okay, got it." With that, he raises the sword and points it at the wall behind him. Hearing the commotion he starts to run towards the others. The sword in his hand, "So Minmei where are you so I can rescue you? Are you okay?" As he walks up to the others, he just doesn't acknowledge any of the gear that is found. His fixation is on the sword in his hands. And if anyone watches anywhere closely enough it's quite creepy as he caresses the pommel and hilt of the blade. Not to mention, talking to it in a hushed tone and voice.

"We need to cross the pit?" he quickly questions.

Wak encourages the group to move quickly and reminds them of the nature of the enemy they face, "I am pretty sure we are dealing with the son of a Choctaw god, Nalusa Falaya, the Soul Eater. Those shadow warriors are his creation, poor cursed braves whose souls are bound to this Nalusa. If I remember correctly those things are astral beings and those tomahawks can do wicked long term things to a person." The Mega-steel chef brings his Katar, knowing the Magic blade may be needed soon for whatever horrors await.
As they leave Wak and Cale discuss Cale's new found durability, "As far as figure, it was something I ate. The only thing close to not normal I ate lately was that pie I made from a giant apple. I normally don't eat a whole pie by my self, especially when it just came out of the oven. I share and make sure I have Ice Cream. I got that from the loot some unknown Demon Lady we fought just before you joined up." Wakiza laughs at the cookie's culinary gumption.

"So you ate a demon's apple! You have balls my friend I will give you that. Being like that forever may not be such a bad thing, Laser blasts not disintegrating your anatomy can be useful in our line of work. Oh and by the way nice bacon-mobile back there, maybe you should make that change permanent?"

Cale shakes his head in amusement. "That is one of the reasons the CS tries to keep an eye on us cooks. We have a tendency of trying anything to see what it taste like. That and we test things we don't trust on people who annoy us. I don't know how long it will last or if I will be like this forever. I'm playing it like the condition is temporary. Now if my Strength was increased to go with the toughness. I would not be minding it. I can take a hit but not return it, that makes me cranky." Turning round Cale looks at his disguised ride. "Bacon-mobile?! What are you talking about." Looking it over, he mutters. "Hopes this is only temparary. This will make us a big target getting home." After that, Cale follows the rest.

Meanwhile Will converses with Isria gaining some info on her background and a very brief lesson on his new armors functions.

A Little Bit of Literary History... Ignored

Wakiza attempts to communicate but the image rambles on in old-timey fashion dropping pithy but rarely relevant witticisms at every turn.
"We don't have time for ghosts who ramble on about terror and Satan! We need to get to the rest of our group! For all we know, they could be misted by now..." adds Will impatiently.

Fancy Vancy

Once inside the hall and having recognized Vancer for what he now is the group prepares for battle. Wak informs his companions of some handy anti vamp tips.

"Remember, wood, silver or magic . . normal weapons won't hurt it."

"Fancy? Fancy Vancy?" mutters a shocked Everis. Will on the other hand squares up to the fiend with much confidence instilled by his new armor.

"Sorry. Bites are correct in certain situations. Here, it just makes you creepy and nasty. And we are too tough to chew. And I finally get to use this weapon" Adds Cale, with that he pulls out his Katar.

"Let's try that again... Bravura! Will mutters after gathering activates the right enchantment and using his Draining Blade as well as the silver forearm claws built into the armor, begins to tear into Vancer.

Combat

Action 1:
Wak Activates Mind Block (-4 isp) and moves towards poor Vancer. Cale takes a swing at Vancer with Katar. Will mistakingly activates the Cuerpo function on his new armor. Vancer lands a powerful blow on Cale's helmet (-22 MD). Everis is shocked by his colleague's transformation. Isria searches for the room for maekshift stakes.
Action 2:
Wak brings forth two psi swords and attacks Vancer with Psi-Sword. Cale sweeps his Katar at Vancer's throat but the vampire knocks it aside. Will mistakenly leaps over head. Vancer parries Cale's blow then lashes out at Wakiza but the cyberknight easily deflects it. Everis and Isria work together to fashion stakes out of a chair
Action 3:
Wak attacks Vancer with Psi-Sword but is parried. Cale takes another swing at Vancer with the Katar, but it too is parried. Will comes down from the wall behind Vance and draws his Draining Blade and while activating Bravura. (-15 PPE). Vancer lashes out at Cale, who parries the blow. Everis and Isria each approach with one stake in each hand.
Action 4:
Wak attacks Vancer with Psi-Sword but the vampire parries it. Cale lands a Katar slash on the vampire face. Will lands both his strikes even stabbing Vancer through the heart, but unfortunately with the draining blade which does not stake him, but instead merely scares the shit out of him. Vance parries Wak's psi-word, but is unable to avoid Cale or Will's strikes. He fails to land a blow as Will easily deflects his punch with the Draining blade. There is no room for Everis or Isria so they hang back waiting for their moment to assist.
Action 5:
Vancer leaps out of the way of Cale's Katar, but is hit by first Wak and then WIll's multiple blows. Vancer has clearly had a bit of a comedown since turning into one of the immortal undead. A worried look crosses his face and he transforms into mist, the misty tendrils of which quickly begin seeping under the door at the end of the hall.
Wakiza and Will both swing deadly blows at the villain, but they merely pass through his newly ethereal and quickly disippating body.

What do you do?

The Bowels of the Earth

Appreciating Morty's Gifts

Taking a bottle from the crate Maxwell eyes it lovingly and lets out a long low whistle.
When they have a moment alone Morty says, "My lady, really I insist." He practically throws the medallion at Mercedes. Instantly she recognizes it holds an incredible amount of mystical power.
"My! Thank you, Morty, you certainly are generous."Mercedes says her put on accent faltering, putting the medallion in a pouch on her utility belt. Don't go anywhere, you. I'll likely need to draw on some of that immense P.P.E.

Reaper
Minmei's voice cries out from the sword. "Oh, Clay. This sword has the power to link its owner to their one true love. It links you to me through time and space. It wants to be used to bring us together. Save me, use the might of this sword, that links you to me, to vanquish your enemies to make me yours! Now turn around and point the blade at the wall behind you."
"Minmei?" he questions the sword. "Is that really you? I can't believe it."
"It is me, my love. Now forever connected to you by the magic power of this sword."
His face turns into a big shit eating grin of proportions only a deranged fanboy could ever have. "I knew you wanted to be with me, I just new it! .... We met an alien who I tried to show that you are the most powerful force in the known universe. When I showed him my locket, he stole it right from me. I almost tried to kill it, but the people I was with, they needed to get back home. And it was the only thing that could do so."
"Do not worry Clay, I forgive you. Soon you will reunited with me in the flesh." Replies the sword. with Minmei's sweet voice.
Reaper finally follows the instructions and joins the others.

Worm Pit

"Oh, I'm so sorry. It seems we've been sabotaged! Well, the boys and I can cross through it, the worms have no taste for dead flesh. But you'll need to stay out they'll chew through armor in seconds.." Morty warns the group.

"We need to cross the pit?" Reaper quickly questions as he catches up fondling his new treasure. Morty nods in reply. "Okay, lets get this done." says Murdoc.
At the edge of the worm pit Maxwell considers taking another drink. Too bad his Icarus was parked above ground he could easily glide over the pit. Quickly, he let's his cybernetics go to work measuring the distance across to see if he can just jump over "Hey magic lady, you got any tricks that can just float us across? Otherwise, maybe me and Murdoc can go first and secure a line on the other side. Anyone got any rope?" Mercedes doesn't reply to Maxwell's question and instead converses with Morty quietly in the corner.
When Maxwell suggests a rope, Murdoc nods again, "Yeah, That would work. We could go in tandem. That way if one of us were to slip the other could pull us back....or we both fall." He grins a bit the continues, "If we have a strong enough rope, we could set up a zip line."

The Crossing

Reaper, Murdoc and Maxwell tie themselves together, but there is not enough rope for Mercedes, which whe oddly doesn't see, to mind at all. Murdoc, presumably the best athlete in the group takes the lead. Meanwhile Morty and the working dead make their ways through the river of worms the crossing is narrow and the procession moves forward slowly. The Murdoc makes it out 40' before misjudging a step and slipping into the pit. The momentum of his fall pulls Maxwell off balance and then he too falls into the pit, which in turn pulls Reaper down as well. During this time Mercedes has cast some sort of magic upon herself and instead of taking the precarious ledge wades in after Morty and the boys. The muck is incredibly hard to walk in and nearly impossible to jum out of. The three men roped together flound as they right themselves. Meanwhile hundred of the horrific worm chew way at their armour to get to the warm flesh beneath. (Reaper -15, Maxwel -30, Murdoc -15) Mercedes sighs and reluctantly makes her way over to the three men. She casts a spell on each of them and almost immediately the worms lose interest. After another or minute or so the entire group has made it across. There they are greeted by a slowly gathering mini-horde of the undead. But Mercedes magic seems to work on them too, and the crowd of rotting freaks just stares in dumb curiosity and does not molest the Roughnecks.

Morty leads them to a rail terminus where they see an enormous train consisting of three enormous flatbed rail cars. When they get to the engine controls, they realize the mechanism though simple, has been disabled. Morty looks at the damage and gives a low sigh, "Well, that's going to be hard to fix. I'll need 10 minutes."

Meanwhile more and more zombies come out of the shadows apparently attracted by the noise.

Why did the juicer and the cyborg cross the pit? To get over the flesh eating death worms.

Falling unceremoniously into the pit of death worms Maxwell struggles back to his feet, peeling the creatures off of his armor - but not before some damage is done. As pissed as he is about his new armor, it is nothing compared to the feelings he has when Mercedes casts a spell that keeps the worms off- after having ignored his direct request a few minutes earlier.

"What the fuck? Why didn't you do that in the first goddamned place?"

Trudging through the worm pit he steams silently to himself, toying with the idea of mowing her down with his new rifle. But ammo was expensive and she already costs him some armor repairs. Revenge isn't cheap.

Seeing the zombie hoard closing on them at the train terminal Maxwell gets a little uneasy.

At least if we die down here, we'll already be buried underground.

Eyeing the flat beds Maxwell shakes his head. Ten minutes was a long time to make a stand at a fixed position. It would burn ammo like nobody's business, and the zombies seemed endless. However, getting up high on the flat beds would give them good firing lines and have everyone all on board for when the train was ready to go. Assessing some of the gear they acquired Maxwell remembers the Horde Buster. Seems perfect for a time like this.

"Alright, looks like we need to make a stand here. Wish we had that burster, a wall of flames would be a big help right now. Let's dig out those Demonburner and Horde Buster guns and take up positions on the flat beds. We can't sustain a ten minute holdout without totally blowing our load, so we need a plan to keep those brain-eaters at bay for a few minutes. I'm thinking we build a barricade of flammable materials and then light it up. Ought to buy us a couple of minutes fore we need to start shooting."

Scanning the area Maxwell looks for anything combustible: fuel drums, pallets, crates, etc.

He then looks to Shadow and Isria, "Good idea bring as many of those stakes as you can, who knows what we are going to run into down here?" Mercedes approaches the group with genuine concern as they climb out of the worm pit. "Are you quite all right? That gave me a dash of fright, I must admit. I was unsure whether that particular spell would even be of any use, thank goodness it was."((Imitate Voice/Impersonation [dice]3[/dice]/60%; fail))

You're lucky I bothered in the first place., Mercedes thinks to herself hatefully while projecting a friendly smile.
"Were I to simply expend my magical energies while ignorant of their effect, then I would be left without the capacity when I truly need it. You understand, yes? Casting the spell four times drains almost half of my existing reserve."((Imitate Voice/Impersonation [dice]4[/dice]/60%; pass))

As the zombies start to close in, Mercedes' eyes dart all over looking for an escape. She draws on the P.P.E. from the PPE battery to cast Invisibility: Simple (-6 P.P.E.) on herself, but reassures the others. "Fear not, I am still with you." ((Imitate Voice/Impersonation [dice]5[/dice]/60%; fail))

Mercedes will try to aid in stacking the flammable material to block the progress of the horde. If anyone points out choke points, she'll focus on those. She takes a moment to think about how to stop a zombie ((Demon & Monster Lore [dice]6[/dice]/60%; pass)).

If two more melee rounds pass, which will end the Aura of Death spell, Mercedes will cast it on everyone again, including herself, using the PPE battery ((-48 P.P.E.)).

"This is the bouncy suit of legend, my friend! Only the highest of the high shelves will remain untouched by these hands." In his mind, he is celebrating the level of power that this armor brings him. By the Brothers, I just went up against a vampire without breaking a sweat! This is a most fortunate day for me.

When the stakes are made, Will grabs one in his offhand, keeping his sword in the other. Once he is ready, he heads toward the door that the mist has seeped underneath and opens it, hoping to find Vancer and continue their combat.

Murdoc hops to his feet after the fall and tries to knock the worms loose. When Mercedes casts the spell and the worms lose interest, Murdoc turns to her and says, "Thank you. Those little bastards almost got all the way through." He pokes at the rather significant gouges in his armor.

As they walk to the train and the zombie horde starts to gather, Murdoc clutches The Obsidian Sword, itching to start swinging. The only thing that stays his hand are the number of zombies that continue to appear.

Climbing on to the flatbed train, Murdoc sighs as Morty tells them the controls are damaged and it'll take a little while to fix.

Murdoc grins and shakes his head when Mercedes disappears. "Yeah, yeah." He replies when the states that she is still there, "Thanks again for whatever that magic was that got the worms off us and seems to be keeping the zombies back. Though I think its gonna get messy soon."
Michael Maxwell wrote:"Alright, looks like we need to make a stand here. Wish we had that burster, a wall of flames would be a big help right now. Murdoc grins as he pats the incendiary grenades on utility belt, "I got your burster right here. Plus there's another 50 or 60 in a crate one of Morty's boys is carrying." He looks down the 2 meters from the flatbed to the floor of the chamber and says, "The ramp will be our main problem, but eventually they'll start piling up and be able to climb up just about anywhere. There's enough trash and scrap out there that we could get a couple of good fires going, but gathering up all that junk is gonna draw a lot of attention, even if they don't think we're food in our present condition." He nods with a smile to where he last heard Mercedes' voice. "They could start to get a little handsy. In which case, get back here ASAP."

Murdoc moves to the front of the train, jumps down and starts gathering and pushing the combustibles toward the ramp. If he comes across large enough pieces he will try to block up the entryway on the east side of the loading area, closest to the front of the train.

If at any time a zombie makes a move toward him, Murdoc will book it back to the train. It doesn't hurt that with a short run, he can jump to the flatbed without the need to use the ramp.

With a course agreed between the three of them Maxwell gets ready to lend a hand, but not before looking at Reaper and his loving affection for his sword.

Everybody in this hole is so damned creepy.

Leaping from the train car with his powerful legs Maxwell drags, pushes, carries as much flammable material as he can toward the end of the ramp and around the perimeter of the train cars.

Pretty Boy wrote:"You gonna sit there and fondle your pommel all day or are you going to help us."
Reaper snarls at Maxwell's comment, not that the Mercenary could tell through his helmet. "Shut the hell up Pretty Boy, she's the most important and powerful person in the universe." He looks at the sword lovingly. "Besides, I've dealt with zombies before right after the Roughnecks came out of the ass end of I don't know what the hell that was. Higher ground is key, they can't really climb very well."

Reaper, drag the tip of the sword into the ground, make a circle. Minmei whispers into his mind. I will protect you from the zombies.

"Yes, I'll show them your power, Sing for me baby, SING!" He quickly hops on top of the rail car, and drags the tip of the sword as big as he can on the rail car. Etching a circle onto the deck of the car. All the while Minmei starts to sing, the sword singing a beautiful ballad of one of Minmei's songs 'To be in Love'

His eyes are wide with excitement, almost in a frenzy as he carves away on the deck. Mouthing the words to the song the Minmei-Blade is singing. To be in love.... I can't believe she's here, and she's mine. "Muah-hah-hah" he laughs for almost no reasons to the others, a twisted and sick perverted laugh, only a fan-boy stalker would be.

SNAFU!!!

Above: Wakiza, Will and Cale
2 minutes have passed.

The team follows the vampire down a corridor that is segmented by several shutter type doors. Once the Roughnecks have followed Vancer into the hallway, the shutter doors close infront and behind them. They realize they have been separated, Nero, Everis and Isria are in a different section of hallway then Will, Wak, and Cale. Vancer mists away again.

The hallway has a strange stainless steel floor with an obvious seem running down the middle. Suddenly the floor gives way and the group is sent down a seemingly endless chute into the bowels of the earth.

The seem to slide forever finally landing onto a heaping pile of corpses. The dead spread endlessly beneath them, in the far distance they see a massive tunnel extend on in the darkness. The pile of corpses shifts and quivers beneath them as if it was alive. And in a very real and terrifying way it is!

Giant pit mouths form in hollows of the mass and huge limbs of fused-together bodies form out of the the mass and begin reaching for you. You realize that you have landed on a Giant Mutant Zombie Mountain!

You are ON the monster!

Below: Maxwell, Murdoc, Mercedes, Reaper.
15 minutes have passed since the last post.

After much bickering and hullabaloo the group underground manages to construct a flammable barrier at the ramp just in time to discover Reaper's swords new power of the Protection Circle. The engraved oval in the car's surface holds the horde at bay 5' from the edge. The horde moans in terrifying chorus but the Roughnecks are safe. Morty finally declares the engine fixed and the massive car slowly begins to roll forward. The train gains speed at an astounding rate and in turn slows down with such smoothness, all aboard must marvel at the wonders of golden age draftsmanship. The horde follows but the speed becomes too great and you leave them behind. After several miles of tunnel zip by the see what appears to be a mount looming in front of them.

But once they get closer they realize it is no mountain. From above you see several figures fall onto the mound of horrors.
They are your companions Cale, Wakiza and Will!

What do you do?

Notes:
Your time lines and story lines meet!

All allied NPCs are working off-camera to save the Chuckwagon from destruction.

Wakiza detects the trap, but is compelled to go forward. A dark voice in his head whispers, "Yeah it's a trap, but I want to see what happens. You'll be fine."

Wakiza senses Evil everywhere.

Wakiza is able to place their position many thousands of feet below Hannibal Outpost. The giant tunnel extends to the East.

Wakiza recalls that Nalusa Falaya, is an evil god (OOC this SNAFU version is very loosely based on the real myths) that haunts the native peoples of the Mississippi valley. It devours the souls of children and corrupts men into twisted and evil monsters. It often tempts people with promises of revenge, or power but its true purpose is the destruction and defilement of all things.

Mercedes, the PPE battery has been added to you sheet please update your sig's PPE tracker accordingly.

UPDATED INFO

Image

-Combat has begun.
-The Roughnecks enjoy a free round of combat as this horrendous thing wakes and forms the limbs and orifices as depicted on the map.
-While walking/climbing on the blob speed is reduced to 25%.
-The surface is covered with normal sized limbs all attempting to clutch the character holding them in place until they can be crushed and consumed. (Auto-parries will be applied to avoid those.)
-The two groups are visible to each other but I have assumed that the group on the blob was too distracted to notice right away.
-The Blob is also emitting a Zombie Moan like no other Zombie Moan, the enormous cavern and connecting tunnel ring with its nightmare vibrations.

Once the train gets under way and they leave the zombies in their wake, Murdoc hustles over to Morty's tote and carry boys and digs out one of the heavy armors and sneers at it. "Got no choice." He pokes at the gouges in his Juicer Assassin armor's chest plate (only 6 MDC main body left) and starts to change it out with the Naruni armor.

Murdoc puts all his gear back on and starts to roll his arms and run in place some to get a feel for the armor, then he just shrugs, "This stuff is heavy. Its gonna take slow me down some." He picks up his old armor and is about to toss it over the side of the train but stops and shrugs again before stuffing it into the crate the Naruni armor came out of.

Murdoc looks over at the other Roughnecks on the train and chuckles, "Hell, I shoulda gone with the crazy conversion. Then I'd fit in with the rest of you." He gives them a big grin and says as smoothly as he can, "Can we cut the bickering until we don't have a thousand zombie trying to tear us a new one?"

Just then the expression drops from his face as he sees what's ahead of them, "Uh, we can go back and fight the thousand zombies now..." His hand goes up, pointing to Cale, Wakiza and Will as they fall onto the mound, "Are those people that just fell on, uh, I have no idea what to call that.... Morty!" He calls out for their undead guide.

Wakiza nods to both Will and Cale regarding their Vamp remarks and continues the chase after the undead creature. Damnit all to hell, zombies now vampire, what the hell else are we gonna deal with today. As they give chase Wakiza tells them what he knows about Nalusa Falaya, "It is an evil god that haunts the native inhabitants of this area. If I remember correctly it is said to devour the souls of children and corrupts men into twisted and evil monsters. It makes promises of revenge or power, but all it brings is destruction and corruption, so be on your guard."
Will wrote:"This is the bouncy suit of legend, my friend! Only the highest of the high shelves will remain untouched by these hands."
Wakiza gives a short laugh, "Well then Cale will have an excellent assistant in the kitchen from here on out!"
Cale wrote: "Alright, keep your eyes open. And watch out for the person close to you. Getting separated down here could be a death sentence."

Wak looks at Cale, "Really you had to say something about not getting separated!!" This mission has been cursed from the get go! After a failed attempt of getting back to the others, Wak says, "I feel evil everywhere in this place. It is disturbing." Wak sees the trap and as he is about to reveal it to the group when he hears,
A dark voice in his head whispers, "Yeah it's a trap, but I want to see what happens. You'll be fine."
Wak hesitates a moment thinking, What are you talking about? And then the trap is triggered and he lands on a giant monster. YOU WERE SAYING!!!

Though the voice was confident Wak is not, What the hell is this thing? It is hideous and probably our doom, but I won't go down without an ugly fight! "Yes, destroy this thing now!"

As the train pulls away from the hoard of zombies Maxwell sighs relief. Slapping Reaper on the back and thanking him for pissing a circle around them with his magical pommel. Sitting on a storage crate he pops off his helmet and cracks his flash. Sipping the whiskey and taking a painkiller to ease his burning back, he zones out for a second to collect his thoughts. Watching as Murdoc dons the heavy Naruni armour Maxwell nods appreciatively, that is until Murdoc opens his mouth.
Murdoc wrote:Murdoc looks over at the other Roughnecks on the train and chuckles, "Hell, I shoulda gone with the crazy conversion. Then I'd fit in with the rest of you." He gives them a big grin and says as smoothly as he can, "Can we cut the bickering until we don't have a thousand zombie trying to tear us a new one?"
Maxwell shrugs at the crazy comment. "Yep, you'd fit in just fine." Not content to leave well enough alone the gruff merc grunts out a laugh "And your balls wouldn't have shrunk to the size of raisins either. Hindsight is a bitch."

Honestly, I should've been a juicer. Just pump drugs into your system and wonder why everybody isn't feeling happy-go-luck all the damned time.

Turning his attention to the tunnel ahead Maxwell uses his multi-optic eye to scan the darkness for trouble. When the rest of the Roughnecks come careening out of the ceiling and land on a squirming zombie mountain, the Headhunter fights back the urge to vomit in his helmet, and instead instinctively slaps in back on his head.

That is the ugliest thing I saw since...well shit...ever.

"Morty, what the hell is that thing?" He shouts into the train engine's cab and racks his own brain for any clues (Lore: Demons and Monsters (North America) [dice]3[/dice] / [dice]55%[/dice]).

Scanning the scene Maxwell looks for an opportunity to rescue the mercenaries swimming in the undead sea. Without his Icarus he has no way to get above them. Instead he looks into the gaping maw of the beast and sets his face like flint.

Taking cover behind the train car he levels the new Vulcan plasma cannon and fires in the vicinity of one of the open mouths. Given the size of the target he supposes he can't miss.

"Why doesn't anything around here stay dead?"

Mercedes fumes. Before her Invisibility: Simple spell elapses, she does a flurry of fake swings at Mikey. Lousy headhunter. All that metal in his head is squeaking. I hear it! I should just lop off his head!
In the end, though, she helps with piling material and as the train sets off, Mercedes sits down, checking her weapons.
Knock-knock, eh? Hope it does more than open doors.

Looking ahead as they near the "mountain", Mercedes yells, "Stop the train! STOP THE TRAIN!".

Aw fuck.
"Comrades, I'm afraid I haven't the spells for this particular situation. I did snatch this, however!" With that, Mercedes pulls out Knock-knock and takes aim at the nearest "blob limb". Her face is gleeful as she pulls the trigger, lightning arcs forth and there's a satisfying concussion in reply.
"Ahahaha! Yeah, baby!", she cackles, quickly letting loose with more blasts, the lightning illuminating Mercedes' deranged expression. All former pretext of her put-on accent vanishes. As she shoots, she yells at the people who just fell on the blob.
"Hey dumbasses! You're on a giant fucking pile of zombies!"
